KAYAK: Nymboida River White Water Grade 2 - 2-day Event

This is two days of white-water paddling on the Nymboida - the easy bits, up to grade 2 white-water (regularly paddled by school groups). Suitable for people with reasonable paddling skills. Please contact the organiser to discuss whether the trip is suitable for your abilities. Limit 10.

We will be staying at Nymboida Camping and Canoeing (NCC https://ncandc.com.au). NCC has options for camping and some basic cabins. They also have suitable equipment for hire (canoes/kayaks/paddles/PFDs/helmets).

You will need:

i) A suitable white-water kayak or canoe. Most flat-water kayaks are NOT suitable (too long and even plastic ones can get damaged badly);
ii) Suitable paddle (better to hire an NCC paddle rather than break an expensive paddle designed for water);
iii) PFD;
iv) Helmet;
v) Spraydeck;
vi) Food for Friday night to Sunday afternoon - there are no shops near NCC or the river;
vii) All the usual camping and paddling paraphernalia.

Costs will be the camping and hire charges (paid individually to NCC):

Camping per person per night - unpowered $20, powered $25;
Cabin per person per night - $35-$40;
Kayak hire per day - $70 (includes paraphernalia);
Canoe hire (2 person) per day - $155 (includes paraphernalia).

We will do all the car shuttling ourselves, so we will need vehicles with good roof racks.

Members register online just for themselves and check the chat room in case the paddle has to be deferred. This event is only open to club members.

Life jackets correctly worn are compulsory. Upon registration, it will be assumed you have read the Northern Rivers Bushwalkers Club KAYAKING ESSENTIAL INFORMATION DOCUMENT and you bring in your pack a completed Medical Information slip.
